This is the fifteenth annual Buster Keaton Celebration at the Bowlus Fine arts Center in Iola. All 15 have been planned and produced by the Keaton Celebration Committee with help of local volunteers. Presentations have been made by a variety of professionals in film and history related subjects and material and advice have been obtained from a multitude of experts from around the world. Our Committee is made up of people from name different towns in four different states. Over the years, we have had audience members from South Africa, France, South America, Great Britain, Canada and all 50 of the United States of America. Today, you join us in celebrating motion pictures and the wonderful world of Buster Keaton and Douglas Fairbanks. Please take time to thank those who have made it possible.
MONT ALTO MOTION PICTURE ORCHESTRA

As part of the Kansas Silent Film Festival, the Mont Alto Motion Picture Orchestra accompanies silent films in authentic period style. Most silent films did not have definite scores – the music was left up to the musical directors of each theater, who pieced together scores from their music libraries. Mont Alto’s repertoire includes several thousand orchestrations photocopied from as many as 200 musicians. Small ensembles such as Mont Alto were much more common and the music was carefully orchestrated to accommodate such smaller groups.
