Steven Napper, Bowlus Artist in Residence in January 2010

Steven Napper, artist will be in residence January 12, 13, & 14 in the Bowlus FIne Arts Center's Dale P. Creitz Recital Hall teaching IHS Art Students techniques using pastels.

ABOUT THE ARTIST:  A signature member of the prestigious Pastel Society of America since 1981, Steven has a fondness for this medium over all others. The spontaneity and freshness of the colors are unmatched. Public recognition of his pastels and his ability as a teacher has made him a favorite among collectors and students.

Standing out as an accomplished portrait painter, Steven has incorporated landscapes into his portfolio more these past few years. The love of nature has found him painting Plein air (on site) more and more; recognition of the quality of his work came with the acceptance as one of the first signature members of the Rocky Mountain Plein Air Painters.

Currently Steven is bringing his oil paints out of retirement and will be creating new pieces from oils, he is also starting to work with clay to hopefully create several new bronze sculptures.

This residency is a part of the Sleeper Family Trust Arts Education programming.
