Custodian/Maintenance Position
Regular/Full-Time
One Year-Renewable Contract FY July 1 – June 30

POSITION
Under the supervision of the Facility Manager/Technical Director, the Custodian/Maintenance position is responsible for keeping the Bowlus Fine Arts Center clean, presentable, and in working order. This includes all surface areas of the Bowlus and maintaining the outside grounds. This position also assists the Facility Manager/Technical Director with the upkeep and maintenance of all systems within the Bowlus.
Examples of Essential Functions
· Perform the cleaning and maintenance of the Center and its grounds.
· Be responsible for routine checks and maintenance of systems and equipment that are vital to the health and operations of the venue. Including but not limited to HVAC, backup generator, sub pumps and valves, irrigation systems, fountain pumps and lighting, sculpture upkeep and life safety equipment.
· Maintain supply inventories and communicate clearly any needs with the Facility Manager/Technical Director.
· Work with the Facility Manager/Technical Director and other Bowlus staff as needed in preparing the facilities of the Center for events and cleaning up afterwards.
· Ability willingness to adapt with constant schedule adjustments.
· Must be a motivated individual.
· Be competent in building supervision and communication with public and clientele in a clear and courteous way.
· Be responsible for other duties which may be delegated by the Facility Manager, the Executive Director or the Board as Trustee.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Any combination of training and experience which demonstrates possession of the knowledge and abilities stated above, and the ability to perform the duties of the position, is qualifying.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
The ideal candidate should possess a minimum of two (2) years of applicable custodial and maintenance experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Must show a knowledge of best practices in custodial work. In particular, the handling and use of chemicals to ensure a safe working environment for employees and a clean and safe space for public use. Must hold a general understanding of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing operations.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND OTHER WORKING CONDITIONS
Daily lift, push, pull and carry objects weighing up to 60 pounds. Must be able to do work requiring physical strength, dexterity and endurance. Requires the mobility to stand, stoop, reach, and bend.
Candidates must be able to work in potentially adverse conditions which may include heights at 25' or more, loud noise, large crowds, darkness and confined spaces.
Must be able to work a flexible schedule including weekends, evenings, and holidays, dependent on program needs. Persons hired must wear the standard required apparel as prescribed by the Bowlus Fine Arts Center.
LICENSE(S)
Must have a Class C driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
Salary range: $32,400 – 36,200 Final determination commensurate with experience.

· 10 Annual Vacation days, Holiday Pay, 14 days discretionary leave.
· A packet will be provided the Director of all documents required. A background check will be required as well as a drug test post offer. In order to complete these, a copy of valid driver’s license and social security card are required.
