The Friends of the Bowlus, Inc. was organized to “promote and assist the purposes and activities of the Thomas H. Bowlus Trust and the Thomas H. Bowlus Fine Arts and Cultural Center” -- primarily focused on the mission of supporting her “bricks and mortar” needs. Community members worked diligently to charter the organization and define its bylaws, with the not for profit corporation officially being established in October 1991.

Over the past 20+ years, nearly 800 individuals, families and businesses have supported the organization through their membership – and the Friends consistently maintain a roster of over 200 new and renewing members each year.

The Friends’ annual membership fees provide funds for the organization to conduct its day to day business, while major gifts, memorials and other smaller donations have allowed the Friends to contribute more than $1.2 million to Bowlus building and equipment improvements.

All members of the Friends of the Bowlus, Inc. are invited to attend the annual meeting which includes a review of the organization’s finances, election of board members, and approval of the board’s actions during the course of each fiscal year.  But the annual meeting is not all business.  The Friends have a long tradition of hosting a dinner following the meeting, which often includes local entertainment -- along with good food and the company of others who share in the spirit of the Bowlus.  Additional benefits of being a Friend is the opportunity to buy Bowlus Cultural Attraction Series tickets before they go on sale to the general public and invitations to other special events scheduled throughout the year.
